In a Hurry? Here’s the Short Version
Microblading can be a great option if you have sparse or uneven brows and want a soft, natural look without daily pencils. It usually suits normal to slightly dry skin best, lasts around 12–24 months, and includes a perfecting touch-up. If your skin is very oily or you have strong old brow tattoos, Nano or Ombre brows may be better options – we’ll advise you honestly at your consultation.

What Microblading Actually Is (and Isn’t)
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup for the eyebrows. Using a very fine manual tool and pigment, we create tiny hair-like strokes in the upper layers of the skin to mimic natural brow hairs and build a fuller, more defined shape.
At Brow Master London in Notting Hill, every brow is mapped and designed individually to suit your bone structure and features. We choose pigments that work with your skin tone and natural hair colour, and we focus on how your brows will heal in 6–8 weeks, not just how they look on day one.
Microblading should not look like a heavy block tattoo. If you prefer a stronger makeup look, we’ll usually recommend Ombre or powder brows instead of classic microblading.
Microblading is ideal if you:
-
Have sparse, over-plucked or uneven brows
-
Spend time every day filling in your brows
-
Want a soft, natural brow that still looks like hair
-
Prefer a tidy but not overly “done” look
It tends to heal best on normal to slightly dry skin with fine to medium pores and no very heavy previous tattooing or scarring in the brow area.
If your skin is very oily, very thin or extremely sensitive, or if you have strong old brow tattoos, we may recommend Nano hairstrokes or Ombre brows instead. A short consultation is the easiest way for us to assess what’s safest and will heal best on you.
Who Microblading Works Best For
Microblading vs Nano Hairstrokes vs Ombre Brows
Microblading
Microblading uses a manual hand tool with a fine blade to create hair-like strokes in the top layers of the skin. It creates a soft, natural effect that works well for normal to slightly dry skin.
Nano hairstrokes
Nano brows are created with a machine and an ultra-fine needle. The strokes can look even more delicate and consistent, and this technique is often more stable on slightly oilier or more delicate skin.
Ombre / powder brows
Ombre or powder brows use soft shading, similar to brow powder or pencil. They’re a great option if you wear makeup daily, want a slightly stronger finish, or need to cover old brow tattooing. They’re often recommended for oily or mature skin.
In our Notting Hill studio we don’t force one label on everyone. We look at your skin, hair, features and lifestyle, then recommend the technique – or combination – that will heal best on you.
Consultation & Design
We start with a chat about your brow history, medical background and preferred brow style. Then we carry out detailed brow mapping so you can see and approve the shape before any pigment is used.
Colour & Numbing
We choose a pigment shade based on your skin undertone and natural brow hairs. A topical numbing cream is applied and allowed to work before we begin.
Microblading Work
Using a fine hand tool, we create individual hair strokes following your natural growth pattern. We work slowly and carefully, checking you’re comfortable throughout.
Aftercare & Touch-Up
At the end we show you the result, explain your aftercare and book your perfecting touch-up in around 6–8 weeks. Microblading is always a two-step process – the touch-up refines your healed brows.
What Happens at a Microblading Appointment?
Healing, Aftercare and How Long It Lasts
Immediately after treatment, your brows will look darker and crisper than the final healed result. Over the next few weeks they soften and settle.
-
Days 1–3: Brows are defined and slightly darker.
-
Days 4–7: Light flaking/peeling – do not pick.
-
Weeks 2–4: Brows may look too light or patchy; this is normal.
-
Week 6+: Colour and strokes settle; your touch-up refines any gaps.
With proper aftercare and depending on your skin and lifestyle, microblading usually lasts 12–24 months before a colour boost is needed. Oily skin, sun exposure and certain skincare products can make pigment fade more quickly.
When done properly on the right candidate, microblading is a safe and controlled treatment. At Brow Master London we take your safety seriously:
-
Single-use, sterile tools and blades
-
Licensed, hygienic environment in Notting Hill
-
Thorough medical history and patch test where needed
-
High-quality pigments from reputable brands
There are cases where we may advise against microblading or recommend an alternative, for example certain medical conditions, very compromised skin or very heavy previous tattooing. If microblading isn’t right for you, we’ll explain why and suggest safer options.
Is Microblading Safe?
Correcting Old or Unsatisfactory Brows
If you’ve been left with blue, grey, red or uneven brows from previous work, you’re not alone. A large part of our work in London is correction and cover-up.
Depending on your starting point, we may suggest laser lightening first, gentle colour correction, or a different technique such as Nano or Ombre to blend better with existing pigment.
For complex cases we usually book a consultation first so we can see your brows in daylight, assess your skin and talk honestly about what is realistically possible.
Microblading prices in London vary a lot between artists and clinics. At Brow Master London your treatment includes the initial session plus a perfecting touch-up, because we care about your healed result – not just a day-one photo.
Please see our Book Online page for the most up-to-date microblading prices and availability in our Notting Hill studio.
You’re paying not just for the appointment, but for years of experience, careful planning and brows you’ll live with for many months.

Microblading FAQs
How long does a microblading appointment take?
Allow around 2.5–3 hours for your first visit. This includes consultation, brow mapping, numbing and the treatment itself.
Does microblading hurt?
Most people describe it as mild discomfort rather than pain. We use numbing cream and work gently, checking in with you regularly.
How long does microblading last?
Typically 12–24 months, depending on your skin, lifestyle and skincare routine. A colour boost every so often keeps your brows fresh.
Am I suitable for microblading?
The best way to know is to book a consultation. We’ll look at your skin, existing brows and medical history and then recommend microblading, Nano, Ombre or another approach.
